Why You Will Want a Powder Collagen Over a Liquid

By now you've certainly heard of collagen, right?

The older you are, in fact, the more likely it's caught your attention, and for good reason... Many health experts now agree that consuming collagen is as crucial as it gets to renew and revitalize how you look and feel.  After all, collagen is the most abundant protein in your body and is essentially the "glue" that holds you together.

What is Collagen?
As the most abundant protein in the body, collagen quite literally is the glue that holds us together. It’s found in our muscles, our blood vessels, our connective tissues, and more. It’s needed for skin elasticity, hair, nails, joints, muscle mass, brain function, and more.

While the body produces collagen, its ability to do so decreases as we age. This reduced production starts as early as our early 20s. And by the time you reach ‘middle age’ your body could be producing less than half of the collagen that you did in your youth.
Even worse, various "lifestyle factors" you may have been exposed to – like poor diet, smoking, pollution, stress, and excess sun exposure – can deplete your collagen levels even faster.

Although collagen is found in some foods such a bone broth, it’s difficult to get the amounts needed for any real benefits. That’s where supplements come in. And fortunately, collagen supplements are now readily available.

If you’re already sold on the benefits of collagen, you may be wondering which is better: liquid vs. powder collagen. After all, there are a lot of options available.

Liquid vs. Powder Collagen
Two of the top ways to consume collagen are through liquid or powder collagen supplements.
Powder
A hydrolyzed powder format is activated by you when you mix with water before consuming, for a more active and bioavailable delivery system - at the time of consumption.
Powders win on potency, fewer additives, cost-savings, and are eco-friendly.
Liquid
Most of the pre-packaged liquid collagens are using a process to sterilize their water-based delivery system. This not only eliminates the harmful bacteria – it also eliminates the beneficial active ingredients, like vitamins, flavonoids and polyphenols.
Despite this process, they’re actually LESS shelf-stable! It also means they are shipping heavy water around the globe, increasing carbon emissions.

When it comes to collagen supplementation, quality hydrolyzed powders offer convenience, flexibility, and effectiveness.
Liquid collagen products can also offer benefits if you prefer an on-the-go drink.

Remember, however, that not all collagen supplements are created equal. It’s important to look for a quality hydrolyzed product for improved bioavailability.
To enjoy more significant benefits, it’s also worth seeking out a product that provides a range of collagen types to support your body from head to toe, not just skin and hair.

Finally, make collagen part of your daily diet as the effects diminish if you no longer use it.

Blessings for Health, Joy & Laughter,
Kathy
